The device, which is intended for safeguarding purses, wallets and the like against loss and, in particular, against access by pickpockets, consists of a flexible connection means in the form of a small chain, strap or the like and of an attachment means, arranged in each case at the ends of this connection means, for the fixed, but detachable, connection of in each case one end of the flexible connection means to the actual article to be safeguarded and to an anchorage point, for example in the region of a pocket of a garment accommodating the article.
