A tool selector 23 is movable over a tool storage matrix 16 to select tools 19 from fixed storage locations and transfer them to an exchange position in readiness for mounting on a work head 10 of a machine tool. The work head 10 is movable inter alia along a Z machining axis, and the exchange position is disposed on a pick-up axis P parallel to the Z axis at a level which varies in accordance with the position of the work head 10. |
