A device for treating metal wires with a liquid bath possesses a vessel for the liquid and a horizontal plate extending above the level of the treatment liquid. The liquid can be conveyed continuously onto the horizontal plate, thereby forming on the plate a liquid layer in which the wires are advanced in the direction of their longitudinal axis. In the vessel there is a portion which is connected to the liquid vessel. This vessel extends above the horizontal plate which is provided, in the region of this portion, with an orifice, through which the treatment liquid passes out of said portion onto the surface of the horizontal plate. By means of a motor-driven propeller projecting into the portion, a rising liquid flow in the portion is obtained.
