PURPOSE:To improve the reading factor of characters, by segmenting a character train with a prescribed method and balancing the angle of inclination of each segmenting line formed by said segmenting method to segment again the character train with an average angle of inclination and to segment accurately the italic characters. CONSTITUTION:A character train is segment with a line connecting a right contact 10 of a character at the right side and a contact 11 of a character at the left side. In this case, the angle of inclination is measured for each of segmenting lines 1-7 of each character train. Then the average angle of inclnation is obtained for the lines 1-7 to cut of the character again. An end piece 12 of the character contiguous with the segmenting region of each character is regarded as a noise and then processed. The standard of decision for the noise is decided by the area of a black dot, the distance to a primary black dot, the logical distance to the disctionary information psace, etc. Thus the form an the area are set substantially constant for the segmenting pattern of an italic character. This can realize the easy and accurate matching with a disctionary. |
