PURPOSE:To perform the titled adjustment, while inhibiting the formation of a pick-up phenomenum and enhancing the durability of a roll without enlarging an in-furnace heat loss, by adjusting contact pressure between the core and the body of the roll on the basis of the adjustment of a margin for shrinkage fitting between the core and the body. CONSTITUTION:The body 12 of a roll is shrinkage-fitted onto the core 11 of the roll, and a hollow hole 13 provided in the core 11 of the roll is designed to enable to circulate cooling water therethrough. In this water-cooled roll 10, contact pressure between the core 11 and the body 12 is adjusted by adjusting a margin for shrinkage-fitting between them. In this way, contact thermal resistivity between them is adjusted, an amount of heat to be transmitted by the water-cooled roll 10 is adjusted, and a temperature at the surface of the roll is set to a proper value not-developing into an overcooled state under a predetermined heating condition. |
