摘要 PURPOSE:To improve fuel consumption and performance at low speed by a method wherein two each intake and exhaust valves are mounted to one cylinder, one intake and exhaust valves are stopped in a low-speed or low-load operation region, a mixture is sucked from a main path, the velocity of flow is increased and the reflux of exhaust is reduced. CONSTITUTION:In the low-speed or low-load operation region of an engine, a solenoid valve 27 is worked and opened by control signals from a controller 15, pressure oil introduced into a cylinder 24 from a path 26 is discharged to a relief path 28, a regulating member 23 is positioned at a lower limit by the force of a spring 22, the force of a spring 22 is largely lowered more than the force of a spring 16, and a locker arm 18 is vertically oscillated centering around the upper end of a sub-intake valve 8, only a pivotal supporting member 21 is vertically moved and the intake valve 8 is left as it is stopped when the arm 18 is downward pushed through the revolution of a cam 17. A sub-exhaust valve 10 is also left similarly as it is stopped. Accordingly, the mixture flows in from the suction path 33, the effect of inertia is improved, and defective combustion is eliminated.
