The method for receiving and reproducing alphanumeric characters serves to transmit alphanumeric characters quickly and at low cost in permanently readable form on paper. For this purpose, a display panel composed of lines with alphanumeric liquid crystal display elements is photocopied by a photocopying device, whereby copies are produced in the normal manner. A control device and memories ensure that the received information is sent page by page to the display panel so that the copying process can in each case then be initiated once the information designated for one page has appeared in full in the display panel.
