PURPOSE:To efficiently provide a plurality of pillar-like protrusions and retaining claws, by providing a cutting tool with cutting edges for cutting the pillar- like protrusions in the quadrangular hole of a roller retainer member and by inserting the tool into the hole at a time and stopping the tool. CONSTITUTION:For manufacturing, an annular material 10 having a U-shaped cross section and a pair of ribs on the inside circumferential surface is prepared first. An appropriate number of circular holes 12 are provided at prescribed intervals in the central part of the annular material 10 as to its width. The circular holes 12 are processed into rectangular holes 13 with long and short sides corresponding to the length and diameter of rollers 5. A cutting tool 15 is thrusted into the rectangular hole 13 inwards in the radial direction to cut pillar-like protrusions 14 and is stopped at a prescribed position to provide roller retaining claws 24 on the inside cicumferential surface. For that cutting, the cutting part 16 of the tool 15 is shaped as a quadrangular pyramid to correspond to the quadrangular hole 13 and the central portions 18 of the long sides of the cutting part are removed so that the protruded portions at both the ends of the long sides are used as cutting edges 17 for cutting the pillar-like protrusions 14. |
