PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester providing fibers having a number of micropores and being colorable to deep clear colors, by adding a specified amount of orthophosphoric acid and an Mn or Mg compound to the reaction system in the production of a polyester. CONSTITUTION:In the production of a polyester by reacting a terephthalic acid- based dicarboxylic acid with a glycol such as ethylene glycol or triethylene glycol, the purpose polyester is obtained by adding (A) 0.3-5mol%, based on dicarboxylic acid, orthophosphoric acid and (B) 1.2-2 times, by mol, orthophosphoric acid, Mn compound (e.g., manganese acetate) and/or an Mg compound (e.g., magnesium acetate) to the reaction system. It is possible to produce a polyester fiber having a number of micropores (0.1-3mu wide, 0.1-5mu long) by forming the polyester into fiber and subjecting the fiber to an alkali treatment. |
