The stator includes a former, the central part of which follows a curved axis (105) and carries the coils (102). The ends of the coil carrying former are such that plates (104) which define the ends of the coil lie at right angles to the axis of the coil. The vector of the surface of each turn of the coil is a tangent to the axis of the coil. The surfaces defined by each of the turns of the coil are all of the same size, and are trapezoidal in shape. The stator is intended for use in a low power electric motor, such as in a food mixer, electric mincer, or coffee grinder. The design uses a reduced quantity of material in construction, and has improved heat dissipating characteristics.
