In a method for utilising discontinuous energy sources having fluctuating temperatures, especially waste heat, for distance-heating systems, when the temperature of the energy source is sufficiently high, the heating is in operation and, if appropriate, at the same time a thermotechnical heat accumulator is being charged, and when the temperature of the energy source is lower, higher temperatures in the heat-transfer medium are achieved as a result of the discharge of the thermochemical heat accumulator, and when no energy source is available the thermochemical heat accumulator is utilised as an absorption heat pump.
