PURPOSE:To detect the conditions of a spindle and accuracy of truing or dressing by a method wherein a vibration detector is provided on a housing to detect the vibration of a grinding wheel spindle. CONSTITUTION:The vibration detector 14 is fitted to an upper part of a spindle housing 8 for the grinding wheel 10 for internal grinding of a work W rotated on a head stock 4. An acceleration of vibration of the grinding wheel spindle 9 detected by the detector 14 is fed through an amplifier 16 into a band pass filter 17 to take out a primary component, which is converted into a root mean square (rms) value by an rms value processing part 30. The detected vibration is compared by a comparator 18 with a reference value set by a variable resistor 19. When the detected value is in excess of the reference value, a grinding operational control board 21 provides an indication of abnormality, and if the abnormality is in the grinding wheel, a command for dressing by a dressre 3 is given to a dressing device 12. In addition, when the detected vibration is reduced below a reference value set for dressing, the dressing operation is stopped. |
