The deep drawing press has a ram-piston-cylinder controlled by a pressing hydraulic circuit and a drawing pad-piston-cylinder with a drawing pad piston which can be pressed by the ram piston against a pressure adjustable in the drawing pad hydraulic circuit. The drawing pad-piston-cylinder assembly is in connection with the press hydraulic circuit via a drawing pad hydraulic circuit comprising a valve by which the limiting pressure is adjustable. Between the drawing pad hydraulic circuit and the press hydraulic circuit a pressure line is fitted. The hydraulic circuit is fitted with a safety valve.
