PURPOSE:To enhance electrostatic chargeability and residual potential of a photosensitive body by using a photoconductive layer composed of a charge generating layer and a charge holding layer each made of specified thin amor phous or microcrystalline silicon films. CONSTITUTION:An electrophotographic sensitive body is formed by successively laminating on a conductive substrate 1 a blocking layer 2, the photoconductive layer 3 composed of the charge generating layer 5, and the retaining layer 6, and this layer 6 a surface layer 4. The layers 5 is made of microcrystalline silicon (muc-Si) and/or amorpbous silicon (a-Si) to be allowed to generate charge carriers by the incidence of light. The layer 6 is formed by alternately laminating a-Si thin film and a-Si thin film containing at least one of C, O, and, N, and the concentration of said element is changed in the film thickness direction in each thin film, thus permitting the obtained electrophotographic sensitive body to transfer the carriers through the thin layers of superlattice structures different in optical band gap, and consequently, to be enhanced in sensitivity, resistance, and chargeability characteristics. |
