<p>The grain cleaning machine has a feed hopper (4) discharging onto husking rollers (5) and the material then falls down a chute (6) into a sifting chamber (3) inside which it is blown forwards and upwards. The husks fall vertically into a region from which they are discharged sideways by a screw conveyor (13) at athe bottom. The cleaned grain is discharged sideways by further screws (11, 12) from pockets (8, 9) nearer the entry point. The air is blown through the sifting chamber by a turbine blower (16) mounted on a horizontal spindle suspended from the sides of the chamber. the air follows a path upwards from below the chute, over the turbine to enter a slot (17) near the top, to travel round the turbine to be returned at low level and enter again below the chute (6).</p> |
