PURPOSE:To obtain a slag film of sufficient thickness and prevent accidents such as breakout effectively by preheating powder by a high temp. gas in a powder transport system, and melting the powder sprayed in a mold quickly. CONSTITUTION:The powder stored in a force feed tank 10 from a hopper 7 is forcibly fed in a transport pipe 13 by the gas heated by a heat exchanger 18, and is separated from the gas in a separator 11, after which it is sprayed onto the surface of the molten steel 2 in a mold 1 by a sprayer 5. During this transportation, the powder is preheated by contacting with the high temp. gas and therefore the sprayed powder 3 melts quickly on the surface of the molten steel 1. Hence, the melt of the powder flows into between the mold and an ingot solidified shell 4, thereby forming a slag film of sufficient thickness. The gas separated in the separator 11 flows through a dust remover 14 and a blower 16 into the heat exchanger 18 whereby it is circulated and reused. |
