<p>Case 3773 6/27/77 ASC/cil PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF HEXACHLOROCYCLOPENTADIENE A process for the production of hexachlorocyclopentadiene, an intermediate useful in the production of pesticides, comprises simultaneously introducing, in the vapor phase, chlorine and a polychlorinated cyclopentane of the formula C5H8-xCl2+x where x is 0 to 4, into a pool of molten salt comprising a mixture of copper chlorides, maintained at a temperature of about 250.degree. to about 500.degree.Celsius.</p> |
