PURPOSE:To maintain a reliable and steady measurement value for a long period of time, by a method wherein a brush is prevented from being contaminated with a sample water at a measuring time. CONSTITUTION:The brush 10 is housed in a brush-housing chamber 9 at a measuring time, a separating member 17 closes the chamber in a manner to be firmly adhered to the opening of the housing chamber 9. This prevents flowing of sample water into the housing chamber 9 from a flow path chamber 8. The sample water flows into the flow path chamber 8 where turbidity is measured. Contamination is prevented from adhering to the brush 10 at a measuring time. In the case of cleaning, a driving device 16 is operated as the sample water flows, the brush 10 is moved to the flow path chamber 8, and the separating member 17 stops moving at a position where it can freely turn in separating member turning chamber 18. Then, the brush 10 is turned by means of the driving device 16 to wash a brush window 3. After cleaning is completed, the brush 10 returns and is housed until the separating member 17 seals hermetically the housing chamber 9. |
