摘要 PURPOSE:To suppress or delay an increase of a transmission loss, which is caused by heat from the outside, and to elevate a heat resisting property, by filling a space between an optical fiber core and an external sheathing layer, with a filling material consisting of an inorganic compound having water of crystallization or water of structure. CONSTITUTION:In an optical fiber cable consisting of an optical fiber core 1, a tension member 3, an intervened core 4 and an external sheathing layer 2, a space between the core 1 and the sheatling layer 2 is filled with only one or a mixture 5, of a compound having water of crystallization such as Na2SO4.10H2O, SiSO4. 6H2O or Fe2(SO4)3.9H2O, etc., and a compound having water of structure such as Al2O3.3H2O, etc. In this way, an increase of a transmission loss, which is caused by heat from the outside such as a fire, etc. is suppressed, or a time reaching an increase of a transmission loss is delayed.
