PURPOSE:To make it possible to lightly and accurately grind a cutter by providing a guide roll for use on the sliding surface of a reciprocating table equipped with a mount of the cutter to be ground such as the plane cutter of a woodworking plane board. CONSTITUTION:A cutter (a) is protruded onto and placed on a cutter mount 29, and is fixed by applying a cutter holding plate 30 and clamping a nut. Then, the cutter (a) is set to a prescribed cutter angle by turning the cutter mount 29 until said cutter angle is obtained. Thereafter, a polishing electric motor 39 is advanced while a table 27 is reciprocated right and left by the operation of a handle of the table, and a whetstone 40 is brought in contact with and forced to cut into the cutter (a), allowing a grinding work to be performed. The reciprocating motion of the table 27 is lightly and accurately performed by means of the rolling motion of a guide roll 31 on two guide rails 23, 25 provided on a bed 22. |
