In a water-heating apparatus comprising a heat pump which consists of a compressor (9), a condenser (15), an evaporator (25) and a storage vessel (1) containing a liquid heat-storage medium, the compressor is enclosed in a housing (7) within the storage vessel and has its stationary part rigidly connected to the housing. Either the condenser (15) or the evaporator (26) is also arranged inside the storage vessel and is rigidly connected to the compressor housing by supporting elements (17). The unit is resiliently supported inside the storage vessel by springs (11) so that the vibrations of the compressor are transmitted to the medium in the storage vessel to produce a more initimate contact, and thus an improved heat transfer, between this medium and the surface of the condenser or evaporator arranged inside the storage vessel.
