Quick acting plug coupling for fluid lines - has spring loaded bush controlling locking balls initially pushed back to retract balls on connection

The coupling is intended for connecting fluid-carrying lines. It comprises two coupling halves (I.II) of which one (II) carries a locking bush (10). This bush is axially movable against a spring (18) force and controls the movement of locking balls (13) contained in axially extending openings (17) in the socket (9) end of that half (II). The bush is double-walled, the annular space between these walls receiving the outer wall (11) of the plug end of the other half (I) also double-walled (3,11). The balls are held in openings (14) in the inner wall of the bush, in such manner that, on plugging, the bush is initially pushed back against the spring force and the balls can move inwards into the axial openings until full engagement, when they lock the two halves in position.
