The switching grid controller uses a matrix of rows and columns such as are used in nodal centres of telecommunication systems, and enables a single control signal to be used to link a selected column (10a) and line (10w). A control circuit (5) connected to a given switch (A2) linking a line and column is coupled by the line and column to the associated output and input selectors (3,2) and comprises a standard address decoding circuit. The connection between the control circuit and the column and row is made through a transfer and filter circuit (70,71,72) to the column and through the switch (A2) to the line. The transfer filter circuit passes selector control signals, to the selectors while blocking switched information signals and filter circuits in the input and output selector circuits block the control signals while passing information signals to the column and from the line.
