PHOTOGRAPHIC PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF POSITIVE COLOUR IMAGES Coloured positive images are obtained from colour negatives by the dye diffusion transfer process in which a material comprising on a preferably opaque support layer on imagereceiving layer and in detachable connection therewith a light sensitive element consisting of one or more negatively functioning silver halide emulsion layers and a non-diffusing dye-providing compound associated with each of said emulsion layer, said dye-providing compound undergoing an alkaline splitting reaction in it oxidized form to release a diffusible dye, is exposed to a negative original and developed using black-and-white developers in the presence of an alkaline processing liquid to release an image distribution of diffusible dyes from the dye-providing compound, whereupon the image distribution of diffusible dyes is transferred to the imagereceiving layer and the originally light-sensitive element is removed from the image-receiving layer.
