PURPOSE:To obtain a plastic lens superior in surface hardness, resistance to scratch and heat, etc., by coating the surface of a plastic lens base with a composition consisting of a compound having an unsaturated cycloacetal group and a compound having a mercapto group. CONSTITUTION:A compound, such as diallylidenepentaerythritol, having >=2 unsaturated cycloacetal groups per one molecule, and a compound, such as pentaerythritol tetramercaptoacetate having >=2 mercapto groups per one molecule are mixed in an equivalent ratio of 1:1-0.5, and when necessary, a polymerization catalyst, such as benzophenone is added to the mixture obtained. The composition thus obtained is coated on the surface of a plastic lens base to give 10-300mum film thickness, and the film is hardened, thus permitting a plastic lens coated with a hardened film to be obtained. |
