<p>A hot-air dryer for open-width textiles or fibrous webs comprises at least two pairs of suction drums in a common housing, one drum of each pair being above the other, and the two pairs being on the same level, sepd. by a short distance which is bridged by a belt conveyor. The feed air to the dryer is delivered in the space between the pairs of drums as well as to either end of the machine, and penetrates uniformly to each of the drums through a mesh covering which concentrically surrounds all of them. This arrangement improves the drying efficiency with upwards of a single pair of drums by increasing the wrap angle of the material around all of the drums compared to the angle of wrap which is possible in a single multi-drum stack, and improving the distribution of ingoing air to all the drums to maintain a uniform temp. throughout.</p> |
