摘要 Process for heating a steel slab contg. 2.5-4 % Si at min. 1260oC, in a walking beam furnace, involves feeding the slabs through the furnace in a continuous row so the tail end of one slab is in contact with the front end of the next slab and the time of contact of the slabs with the fixed beams does not exceed three times their contact time with the walking beams. The slabs are sepd. as they near the furnace outlet, providing a gap so the slab adhering to the ends of the slabs melts. The furnace atmos. below the slab is pref. at>= 1300oC and the gap formed by sepg. the slab is <=1/5 th. of the slab thickness.
