Detachable shrunk joint - uses shape memory alloy with two=way effect

The shrunk joint is of an alloy having a shape memory, and uses a memory alloy material having a two-way effect. Thus the joint is reversible, and can be fitted onto a workpiece and subsequently detached again. The alloy is pref. of the nickel/titanium or nickel/titanium/copper type, with or without further metal additives. More pref. proportions can be 43- 45% wt. titanium, 2-10% wt. copper, 1-3%wt. of iron and the balance nickel. The joint can comprise a cylindrical bush exerting a radial tension and of the alloy, and two cylindrical components to be joined together. The method of mfg. the shrunk joint is also claimed.
