The switch for relatively high currents, has a block containing two spring loaded pins with rounded ends which are forced downwards against contact elements to swing them from an intermediate position into a contact bridging position. This block is mounted on a bridging piece with an arm extending upwards from it with a peg extending sideways to travel in control channels in a vertical block above. This block forms the bottom of a switching arm. The channels are divided by a partition and terminate in upper and lower return paths adjacent to the ends of the partition. The lengths of these channels determine the duration of contact action between the middle contacts and the side contacts, controlled by the speed of travel of the switching arm.
