PRINT CHARACTER SELECTING MECHANISM

This mechanism includes number of selection pawls(5) and comb shaped yokes(10) around which electro-magnetic coil fits Print characters are circumferentially disposed aboout the character ring(1) and are selectively positioned in a print position by deenergizing an electro magnetic coil. Each of the character rings includes a ratchet gear(3) having a number of circmferentially disposed teeth, which correspond to print characters disposed aboout the print character ring. An electro magnetic coil disposed about each selection yoke is normally energized to induce a flux field in the selection yoke. A number of selection pawls are normally in a rest position in a butting engagement with a selection yoke.
