Switch with short circuit and overheating protection - uses bimetallic strip with fixed and moving contacts and has arc extinction blades

The switch with both overheating and short circuit protection, and incorporating a stack of arc extinction blades, has a thermo bimetallic strip incorporated in the path to the moving contact. It also has a second release device in a path in parallel with the fixed contact. This second device can also be a thermo bimetallic strip. The fixed contact has an arm between the liver terminal and a conductor strip connected to the extinction blades. This arm includes a gap which is in parallel with the second bimetallic strip. An alternative design incorporates this second strip in a member between the moving contact and a second conductor for the extinction blades.
