Headlight adjustment system for vehicle - sets angle of tilt of headlights according to load carried by vehicle

The system has a measuring system measuring the position of the bodywork of the vehicle w.r.t. a fixed plane before the vehicle is loaded. This position is retained in a memory. The measuring system then measures the position of the bodywork when the vehicle is loaded and compares it with the stored position to produce a signal that adjusts the angle of tilt of the headlights. The unloaded measurement is initiated when a door of the vehicle is opened and the loaded measurement is initiated when the last door is closed and the ignition switch operated. The measuring system uses one (or two) pendula (14,15) to determine relative position. The pendulum is mounted on one headlight and its axis of pivot is the same as that of the headlight.
