Electrically conductive fillers, - comprising silver-coated insulating filler particles for plastics,paints and elastomers

The non-conductive filler particles consisting of sand, mineral powders, plastics, glass or ceramics, (in the form of pearls, powder or flakes), comminuted fibres or hollow micro-spheres. The ag coating is pref. applied, by a chemical silverising process, in presence of a cationic surfactant to improve deposition and uniformity. The fillers can be used to make electrically-conductive materials, e.g. plastics, paints, casting materials, ceramics, glass or hydraulic setting materials such as Portland cement, for use as conductive cpds., adhesives, screens, constructional components, resistances, etc. Silvered hollow micro-spheres can be used for materials of low s.g., low thermal conductivity and high compressibility.
