The tool is rotated, deforming the edges of a metal pipe (P) wall bore (B) into an external spigot, and is used when making welded pipe joints for plumbing. It comprises a shaft (1) with diverging head (9,10) prongs, one fixed, the other pivotable. A collar is formed by withdrawing the revolving head through the bore. One prong (10) pivots to permit head insertion, and is located on a flush fitting arm (2) retained by a rubber ring. The prong span (12) can be adjusted by a screw (11). A vice (19) locates the pipe and the tool, using a tubular bolt (18) in a captive swivel nut (32). The bolt slides onto the shaft to be secured by a sprung (29) bayonette connection. The nut is now locked by a friction washer (33), further bolt rotation effecting head withdrawal.
|
