PURPOSE:To reduce noise bands generated at the upper and lower ends of a reproducing screen by obtaining head outputs of a required value at both the start and end of the trace tracks of two rotary heads by making a recording track pitch wider on the basis of the rotary heads. CONSTITUTION:From variable-speed commanding circuit 53 to capstan servo circuit 51, a threefold-speed command is sent to drive magnetic tape 41 at a threefold speed and a reference signal is applied from reference oscillator 47 to tracking adjusting circuit 25 to place the tape in the best tracking state by circuit 53 in accordance with a variable-speed signal, thereby exercising servocontrol so that both the signals will be in phase by circuit 51. The signal of oscillator 47 and a signal and corresponds to the rotation of a cylinder that is detected by tack head 44 are applied to cylinder servo circuit 46 to exercise servocontrol so that the both will be in phase. Consequently, scanning tracks 31 and 32 of rotary head 43 with the tape driven at the threefold speed are obtained with regard to recording tracks A1 and A2 by head A and recording tracks B1 and B2 by head B. |
