A small fraction of the exhaust gases which pass from a boiler to the air preheater and from there go on to a dust extractor and a desulphuriser before reaching the chimney stack, is drawn off before the preheater, in a process for the removal of acid components. This fraction is put through a spray vapouriser, and from there goes to a separator, following which, before or after the dust filtration plant, it is put back into the main gas flow; the washing water from the desulphurising plant being put wholly or partly through the spray vapouriser. For application in coal or oil fired power stations in which the gases of combustion on leaving the boiler, go through a preheater for the air and then are cleaned in a desulphurising plant. Simple means of removing the noxious substances from the flue gases, which can be installed in already existing power stations, to bring down operating costs, is provided.
|
