A hydraulic cylinder essentially comprising a cylinder body (1) with a front cylinder head (2), rear cylinder head (3), piston rod (4) with a piston (5) and a clevis mount (6), as well as respective oil ports (11, 12) at the front and rear cylinder heads (2 and 3 respectively) for connection to a hydraulic system, wherein a freely movable piston (7) is disposed within the cylinder body (1) between the piston (5) and the rear cylinder head (3), thereby forming a space (8) between the piston (5) and the movable piston (7). The piston rod (4) and clevis mount (6) are formed with an axial bore (9) and an oil port (10), respectively, by means of which the space (8) between the piston (5) and the freely movable piston (7) may be brought into communication with the hydraulic system. When the piston (5), starting from an arbitrary position, has been activated and has executed a stroke, it will return to and automatically stop at the same, initial arbitrary position, thus providing a hydraulic cylinder that has a "hydraulic memory". <IMAGE> |
