Apparatus for cleaning shafts or pipes and comprising a brush rotating about an axis, the brush being designed to largely fill the cross section of the shaft or pipe, and to rotate by means of the liquid pressure, the apparatus being suspended in a bearing 12, means 9 being provided to raise and lower the apparatus and liquid nozzles 15 and 16 with guides that give a reaction torque when spraying liquid being arranged between the bearing 12 and the brush 20, and the apparatus at the bottom being connected to a liquid pressure hose 10 by way of a rotary coupling 19, so that the apparatus can rotate without the hose 10 also rotating. <IMAGE>
