The seat belt system for individual rear seats consists of a diagonal belt with one end threaded through the slot of the belt deviating fitting and terminates in an automatic belt retractor mechanism fixed to a suitable point of the body side wall. The other part of the belt is threaded through the slot of the locking assembly element with a grip to which the shaft element of the locking assembly is attached. Inside the shaft element a rod is fitted slidably operated by the handle. The end of the rod carries an expanding set of locking blocks with a spring between them to press them apart so that their upper surfaces engage with the top edge of an inverted cup-like locking element. The entire locking element is brought into engagement with the locking element by inserting the shift element through an opening in the seat upholstery and pushing it down.
