An end protector for the end of a tubular and/or rod-like element, the end protector comprising a hollow metal structure (8, 12, 17) pre-formed from a sheet of mesh or perforated metal of generally cylindrical, frustoconical or spiral configuration having transverse apertus through the wall thereof and being embedded in a mold-formed hollow structure of resilient material that extends through said transverse apertures. Where the element to be protected is threaded, the mold-formed hollow structure is formed with a mating thread, the thread of the mold being identical to that of the element. The mold-formed hollow structure is formed in the mold with two surfaces being axially spaced apart with said mold-formed threads between them, at least one of said surfaces being transverse and for sealing engagement of the radial end face of the element.
