PURPOSE:To uniformly use a plurality of discharge openings which are in good condition when a defective discharging occurs in a discharge opening so as to improve lifetime of a head by providing a drive means for making a record head discharge based on a drive data and a data setting means for making the discharge openings to be allotted with a plurality of picture elements variable at every picture element. CONSTITUTION:In nozzle memories 1-4 corresponding to picture elements x and y of data setting, when an Mxy is 0 based on value of the output value Mxy of dummy half tone processing, 0 is set for all the memories. When the Mxy is 1, 1 is set for one of the memories and 0 is set for the others, and it is also the same as 1 when the Mxy is 2, 3, and 4. In this structure, 1 is set from the next memory of the nozzle memory pointed by a pointer 130 at a final data setting of picture elements x-1, y before the picture element of the data setting. That is, a discharge opening to be used with the picture element relating to the data setting is set such that the picture element data whose data setting is already finished becomes uniform with respect to the discharge opening to which 1 is set and its number of settings becomes uniform in a picture element string for 1 line in the scanning direction of a record head. |
