NEW MATERIAL:A 2-oxoazetidine derivative of formula I (R1 is amino group which may be acylated or protected). EXAMPLE:3-Benzyloxycarboxamido-3-methoxy-2-oxoazetidine. USE:An intermidiate for the synthesis of a medicine. For example, a compound of formula II, useful as a remedy for bacterial infection, is obtained by sulfonating the compound of formula I. PROCESS:A compound of formula III (R2 is acylated or protected amino group; R4 is ester residue) is oxidized, and if necessary the protecting group is eliminated to give the compound of formula I. Alternatively, 3-amino-3-methoxy-2-oxoazetidine is acylated to give the compound of formula I (R1 is acylated amino group). |
