PURPOSE:To prepare an arteriosclerosis-suppressing substance free of side-effects, by extracting the water-extraction residue of Chlorella cells. CONSTITUTION:Cells of Chlorella are extracted with water to obtain various effective components, and the extraction residue, which is hitherto disposed as a waste, is extracted with 85-95% aqueous alcohol solution (e.g. 90% methanol solution in water) at room temperature to obtain the objective arteriosclerosis-suppressing substance. The substance has high arteriosclerosis-suppressing effect (suppressing the deposition of cholesterol) and no side-effect. Moreover, the residue can be effectively utilized. |
