PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conservative and bone preservative femoral hip prosthesis using no stem inserted in a bone marrow medullary canal, simplifying a surgical operating technique and minimizing the injury related to this procedure. SOLUTION: A prosthetic femoral component for location in a prepared socket in a femur which has been resected at a position on the proximal side of its neck includes an insert portion (5) and an enlarged proximal head portion (6) and the distal part (8) of the head portion (6) is adapted for location in the prepared socket. |
