<p>Crosslinked resins are prepd. by condensing N-methylol gp.-contg. carbohydrate derivs. having formula: (where X1 = X or and >=1 X is ester type-bonded -CO-R1-CO-NR-CH2-OR2 (in which R is H or -CH2OH; R1 is -C6H4 or -(CH2)n; n is 0 to 4; R2 is H or 1-4C alkyl) and/or ether type-bonded -R3-NR-CH2OR2 (in which R3 is -CH2-CO-, -CH2-CH2-CO-, -CH2-CHOH-CH2-NH-C(=Y)- or -CH2-CHOH-CH2-Z-(CH2)x-; Y is -O-, -S- or -NH; Z is -NH- or -O- and x is 1-6), or -R4(NR-CH2OR2)2 (where R4 is), N-methylol or N-methylol-ether gps., and the remaining X are H, 5-20C alkyl or acyl gps.) with one another or by co-condensing 1-50 (10-30) wt.% (Ia) and/or (Ib) with urea-, melamine or phenol-HCHO pre-condensates, and (2) crosslinking to one another via methylene-ether and methylene bridges. The resins can be used as coatings, lacquers and adhesives. The condensates of (Ia) and (Ib) and the modified aminoplasts and phenoplasts have reduced brittleness, increased flexibility, variable water-absorption or -repellence and good workability. The pure derivs. of (Ia) and/or (Ib) form transparent, highly elastic prods.</p> |
