The tumbling apparatus has a fixed base (11), a carrier arrangement (21), which is fastened such that it can move freely on the base, a tumbling chamber (70), which is arranged on the carrier arrangement, and a device (22) which generates a circular vibratory movement and has a first motor (59). The tumbling chamber (70) is formed by two parts, of which the inner part (77) is rotatably arranged and has a vertical inner wall (78), and the outer part (35, 82) is mounted fixedly on the carrier arrangement (21). On the carrier arrangement (21) there is fastened a second motor (72), which drives the rotatable part of the tumbling chamber (31). Consequently, the parts to be tumbled can be exposed to a rotary and centrifugal movement and, if necessary, an additional vibratory movement. The circular vibratory movement of the tumbling chamber is, however, intended primarily for discharging the tumbled parts. <IMAGE>
