PURPOSE:A specific apron that has substantially no nipping action is provided in the draft zone of stretch-breaking modification to effect simultaneously stretch- breaking modification and drafting on the bundles of stretch-broken fibers, thus continuously producing title spun yarns with uniform quality at high speeds. CONSTITUTION:Tow 2 is stretch-broken in zone A and then subjected to simultaneous stretch-break modification and drafting in the stretch-breaking modification draft zone B in which a couple of aprons 10 and 101 is provided which has substantially no nipping action, whose length L2 is over 0.5 time that of the stretch- breaking modification draft gauge L1, and the interval L between the top edge and the stretch-breaking draft rollers 12 and 121 is 2mm or less. In the operation, the bundle of yarns are not disturbed by the accompanying air at fron aron rollers 9 and 91 and stretch-broken and collected spun yarns with substantially the same yarn qualities as those of ring-spun yarns are produced at a speed as high as over 250m/min. |
