The image of an original or a platen 12 is projected on to a drum 10 via a scanning mirror 16, a lens 20 and a mirror 22. Lens 20 and mirroi 24 are moveable to vary the width of the image, the scanning rate of mirror 16 being adjusted to vary the length of the image accordingly. A belt 36 connected to the drum drive motor (50), Fig.2 (not shown) oscillates a sector 38 which, through gears 114, 116 oscillates on shaft 32 supporting mirror 16. A disc 134 is rotatable to bring a selected cam 136, 138, 140 into engagement with a follower 126 to adjust the rate of movement of gear 114 and thus of mirror 16 according to the desired manification lens 20 is supported by a mount (58), Fig.3 (not shown) moveably mounted on a screw (68). Mirror 24 is similarly movable, and is also tilted as it moves by a cam surface (110), Fig.6 (not shown) so that the image always strikes drum 10 in the same place. |
