The inking mechanism is for a rotary offset printing press. The ink is delivered from a vessel via two different sets of inking and friction roller in different quantities to application rollers at two different levels. To reduce the quantity of ink delivered, the transfer roller has a flat extending for part of its periphery, and is of cylindrical cross-section for the rest of its length. The transfer roller (7 or 8) has flats of different lengths extending over part of its length.
