The multiway plu and socket connector incorporates a locking mechanism which is used in aircraft and space vehicle electrical systems. It has a monitoring device which will indicate whether the two sections have mated correctly. This monitoring is performed by electrical device so that it will be possible to carry out remote checks. There is a separate monitoring current circuit which is triggered by a switch (19) actuated when the two parts of the plug and socket connector (2) are correctly mated. There is a ring section (13) which is rotated so as to produce a bayonet-type engagement.
